Cruelty charge dropped over dog on motorcycle
MARLBORO, N.J. -- Authorities dropped an animal cruelty charge against a New Jersey man who was riding his motorcycle in the rain with a dog.
Gyula Szatmari pleaded guilty to an unsafe driving charge instead.
The 56-year-old paid $449 in fines, surcharges and court costs in Municipal Court in Marlboro.
Szatmari has driven the bike for years with his Boston terrier "Bosco" sitting on a platform behind the windshield.
He was ticketed on Aug. 24.
Szatmari's attorney James Curran, told the Asbury Park Press he thinks his client is going to get a special carrier in recognition of the animal control officer's concerns.
