Anesthetist jailed for molesting female patient in southeast China
An anesthetist from a hospital in Xiamen city, southeast China’s Fujian province, has provoked public outcries after he was found guilty of molesting a female patient while she was still unconscious.
According to local police, the victim, nicknamed Wenwen, underwent a surgery in Xiamen Woman and Infant Health Hospital on March 19 this year.
At 18:50 p.m. of the same day when the surgery was done, the patient stayed in a post-anesthetic care unit to await recovery from the anesthetic.
However, during this time, an anesthetic, surnamed Pan, 38 years old, took advantage that she was still under the influence of the anesthetic, and sexually abused her.
After Wenwen woke from the anesthetic later, she found something “wrong” in her body, and called the police.
The 38-year-old scum was then arrested by the local police, and sentenced to two years and two months in jail on the charge of “sexually insulting a woman by force.” But many Internet users cried online that more severe punishment should be given to such a criminal.
