Is Jessica Simpson's country music career over?

Has Jessica Simpson been unceremoniously dropped from her country music record label?

And will "Dancing With the Stars" be her next step?

Oh dear. Talk about a short and not-so-sweet career.

Was it the extra weight or the mom jeans? Or perhaps the recent incoherent, babbling and botched performances?

A reader has alerted Country Music Tattle Tale that Jessica Simpson's name and information no longer appear on either the Columbia Nashville or Sony Music Nashville website.

Even her artist page that tells all about her life and career and her music is MIA.

And this used to be the url for her bio page.

Maybe it's just a computer glitch? And so far, its only a rumor, folks.

But naturally, this news has folks wondering if that's why poor Jess was said to have headed to Cabo instead of attending the prestigious American Country Music Awards in Las Vegas last weekend.

Remember that she was one of the big female stars -- including Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough -- who announced the Academy of Country Music Awards nominees in Nashville on Feb. 11.

So it does seem odd that she wasn't at the actual awards on Sunday.

And is this why she's reportedly considering going on "Dancing With the Stars?"

We've made calls to Jessica's PMK publicist in New York and will keep you posted on what we find out.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: According to Simpson's peeps, "Jessica is and has always been an Epic artist. She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She continues to be on Epic's label."

So there, all you rumor mongers!
