It claims the Swansea-born star was engaged to Hollywood producer Jon Peters and all set to marry ‘until her entire family flew in en masse from the UK to meet him and he got cold feet’.
Peters collaborated on the book with Hollywood author William Stadiem. It says the actress, now 39, conducted a ‘torrid, shock-the-neighbours romance’ with him in 1996 when she was ‘hot out of Wales’.

And Peters, who is 63 – one year younger than Michael Douglas – ‘adored Catherine Zeta, as he called her’.
The book says she fitted his ‘special talent of finding budding actresses and nurturing them into superstars’, and with his backing she was cast in a TV mini-series about the Titanic disaster.
She went on to star in films such as The Mask Of Zorro and Entrapment and won an Oscar for Chicago.
Catherine, who married Douglas in 2000, has proudly described herself as a ‘homebody’ who keeps in regular touch with some 30 relatives and friends in Wales, including her seamstress mother, Patricia, her sweet-factory owner father David ‘Dai’ Jones and her two brothers, Lyndon and David.

Before moving to the US, she had a long-running romance with shamed TV presenter John Leslie.
Peters, a former head of Sony Pictures and producer of films such as Batman, The Color Purple and The Witches Of Eastwick, claims he ‘became a Hollywood legend for seduction as much as production’. He has a ?320million fortune despite his divorces from four wives, including actress Lesley Ann Warren.
His other lovers are said to have included Barbra Streisand, Kim Basinger, Pamela Anderson, Nicollette Sheridan, Sharon Stone and Salma Hayek.
And the book says the only woman who ever rejected him was Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson.
