Don't Get Obsessed With Ab Workouts
It doesn't matter how good your ab workouts are...ab workouts by themselves will not give you six pack abs.
Your abs are invisible until you shrink that layer of stomach fat. And it's going to take more than ab exercises to get rid of belly fat.
To build and reveal a great looking set of abs, you'll need to add two things to your ab workouts. First, you'll need to expand your target to your whole body; not just your abs. Second, 80% of the battle is nutrition. If you're eating the wrong foods, forget about ever seeing your abs.
Work on getting rid of the fat hiding your abs first. Then...after you've lowered your body fat percentage to a safe and healthy level...then, focus on serious, gut-shredding ab workouts! It does not good to have washboard abs if you have twenty pounds of sludge hiding them. Focus your early efforts on draining your body of that heavy, ugly fat...and then blast your abs.
But, the only way to tell your body to shed those pounds of fat is to rev up your metabolism and various natural hormones produced by your body. Signal fat loss mode to your body consistently, and it will...it WILL...drop the excess deposits of fat you've been storing up. And you can do that by intense cardio and resistance training, as well as a proper diet. Ab workouts alone are not enough to turn your body into a fat burning furnace.
A Listing Of Ab Workouts
The following is a partial listing of ab workouts. It's nowhere near complete, but you can use this as a starting point in your research for ab workouts. Remember, though...don't focus all your energy directly on your abs. Your first goal should be to lose that thick layer of sludge hanging over your midsection.
And another thing, many other exercises depend upon your abs. Running, hiking, back exercises, biking, and boxing all use abdominal muscles. Just get active in various forms of intense exercise. Your abs will begin to take care of themselves. And by the time you do shed that curtain of fat that's hiding your awesome abs, you'll have a good foundation to build upon for far more intense and direct ab workouts. Now, here's that list...
- Basic crunch
- Bench Crunch
- Bicycle
- Cable Crunch

This ab workouts article isn't meant to be a substitute for medical advice or even personal training advice. It's a starting point for further study. It's basic, basic information.
Ask your doctor about it. Ask your trainer. Find out from them if you should even be thinking of ab workouts. There may be something even more basic you need to master, first. Then, under their guidance, you can begin your ab workouts and hopefully you'll begin to see your abs. They're in there...just waiting to be seen.
