Here is a bit of Texana: An 9-banded armadillo, very native to Texas, drinking a Lone-Star beer (Lone Star is the nickname of Texas).
Armadillos have armor-like skin on the back, but as you can see, the underside is soft and furry. So when in danger, an armadillo would curl up to form a ball to protect itself. It has been said that some poor people in Texas would occasionally hunt for armadillos to supplement their diet
