Throughout the current financial crisis, a common message from our spiritual leaders has been to renew our faith in God to help us through these difficult times. Faith can get us through when everything else in our lives seem to be opposing us. Faith is the "yes" in the midst of countless "noes" that provides the lifeline we need to keep going in the face of challenge.
I wonder though, particularly when it comes financial matters, if we shouldn't also reflect on the fact that faith moves in two directions? Just as you place your faith in God to help you find your way through a crisis, consider the fact that God also has faith in you. God knows you and believes you can and will take the steps necessary to pass through and beyond your personal and financial difficulties.
God's faith in you is different than your faith in him. As frail humans beings full of chatter and confusion, we are advised to simply trust that God is there and He has a plan for us. Even if we don't know the plan, even if we aren't even sure that it exists, it is important for us to know and trust that God is always there and will help us get through even our most difficult challenges.
